The 2018 vintage in Štajerska was warm and generous, giving the grapes optimal ripeness while chilly mountain night currents preserved a core of bright acidity. At 12% ABV, this release pairs the natural elegance of Pinot Noir with the savory depth of a ripe, low-yield vintage.
The Visual: A glowing, translucent garnet-ruby with brick-orange rims. Unfined and unfiltered, carrying a soft, living haze that dances in the light.
The Nose: Smoldering, wild, and deeply atmospheric. Aromas of ripe wild strawberries, sour red plums, and dried cranberries fuse with forest floor after autumn rain, dried rose petals, damp bark, pine resin, and a subtle flick of rustic iron mineral.
The Palate: Supple yet intensely structured. The warm 2018 sun gives the mid-palate a silky, rounded flesh, which is instantly countered by a fine, tea-like tannic weave and a mouthwatering pulse of cranberry acidity. Flavors of salt-cured sour cherry, wild botanical herbs, and savory earth carry through to a long, bone-dry, lingering mineral finish.
Single-varietal zero-sulfur Pinot Noir is notoriously difficult to produce without losing varietal identity—yet Aci’s 2018 Modri Pinot succeeds effortlessly.
