At a featherweight 11% ABV, the 2020 Modri Pinot is an extraordinary exercise in low-alcohol elegance. Rather than aiming for high extraction or deep color, Aci captures the delicate, perfumed, and rustic side of mountain Pinot Noir.
The Visual: A glowing, translucent ruby-garnet with delicate brick-orange reflections. Unfined and unfiltered, carrying a soft, natural haze in the glass.
The Nose: Highly aromatic, lifted, and hauntingly complex. Fresh sour red cherries, wild forest raspberries, and pomegranate mingle with forest floor after rain, dried rose petals, pine needles, and a subtle flick of rustic, earthy spice.
The Palate: Ethereal, weightless, and driven by kinetic mountain energy. A thin, crunchy spine of cranberry-like acidity leads the palate, framed by delicate, tea-like tannins. Notes of salt-cured red berries, wild herbs, and crushed limestone carry through to a bone-dry, mouthwatering, and mineral-laden finish.
Pinot Noir made with zero added sulfites at 11% alcohol is a high-wire act that very few winemakers in the world can pull off cleanly.
