VERDUGO 2015
Masiero’s most representative wine, Verdugo is 100% Merlot from a North-East facing vineyard planted in 2001 on clay-limestone soils. Grapes are carefully hand-picked and ferment with their wild yeasts in open wooden vats. The extended 20 days maceration lends it soulful structure and subtle finesse not often found in Merlot. It ages at least 1 year in large barrels and 1 more in the bottle before being ready. It fascinates with notes of fresh boysenberries with Szechuan peppercorn, rosehip and grilled sage.
