GUARINI PLUS 2015
Guarini Plus is by far the most exciting and majestic of Aldo’s range of splendid natural wines. It’s born from the best grape selection of the farm’s best cru Syrah, which has long since found a home in this part of Western Sicily. We’re at about 350 m of elevation and on rich clay-based soils, the grapes ferment wildly for 2 weeks with their skins in steel, then see 8 months in French tonneau before being bottled unfined, unfiltered and with no added SO2. Baroquely complex and at the same time deeply spontaneous, rustic and focused: spiced Moroccan dates, black cherry and cinnamon compote with smoked plums and a wildly pleasant gamely note.
