SERRAGGHIA FANINO 2012
Fanino is the perfect marriage of earth and sea, a red wine born out of the union between the tannic Sicilian Pignatello grape and the minerally charged and briny Catarratto. Proudly blurring the thin line between red and rosè, Gabrio crafts a tersely vibrant and hugely assertive natural wine that demands to be heard then gently whispers of iodine songs and berries’ epics. Co-fermented in amphora with their wild indigenous yeasts, the grapes then rest for 7-12 months of elevage before being bottled with no fining, filtration or added SO2. Oceanic screams of untold elegance meet bass rumblings of the deepest earth: rich red flowers, dried black currants, smoked Oolong tea and cherry blossoms.
