OSLAVJE 2005

The 2005 vintage in Collio was cool, classic, and long-ripening, allowing the grapes to retain high natural acidity while developing fully mature skin tannins. After two decades, this bottle has evolved into a masterclass in tertiary, meditative depth.

The Visual: A breathtaking, deep burnished bronze-amber with dark mahogany and copper glints. Unfiltered, cloudy, and swirling with natural density.

The Nose: Hauntingly complex and deeply aged. Wafts of dried persimmons, dark orange marmalade, and roasted hazelnuts open into pipe tobacco, dried chanterelles, beeswax, leather, and a piercing, high-toned volcanic stone minerality.

The Palate: Deeply textural, profound, and alive. The two-decade journey has melted the three-month skin contact into soft, suede-like tannins. Flavors of salt-baked orchard fruits, dried figs, dried mountain herbs, and intense umami surge across the palate, driven by a persistent, mouthwatering vein of cool-climate ponca acidity.

The 2005 Oslavje is a time capsule of natural wine royalty. It demonstrates why Stanko Radikon refused to use sulfur: the natural protective antioxidants from months of skin contact, paired with high acidity, allow these zero-sulfur amber wines to age as gracefully as the finest Grand Cru reds. It is a rare, intellectual, and deeply moving experience for any serious orange wine enthusiast.

Best enjoyed: Cellar temperature (14–16°C / 57–60°F—do not over-chill). Pour into wide Burgundy bowls or give it a gentle decant, and drink slowly to witness a legend stretch its wings.
