This international variety, too often known for bloated fruit bombs, has found a home and become naturalized in Friuli’s Collio. In Radikon’s huge and masterful hands it blossoms into a titanic masterpiece of natural wine, a wine in which extremity and finessed elegance manage to be in impossible yet beautiful balance. As all of Radikon’s wines work in the vineyard is well beyond organic and nothing is added nor taken away in the cellar. This stunning merlot sees a maceration on the skins of 30-40 days before being pressed for aging in used barriques for 5 years and much longer in the bottle. Majestically evocative of lost mysteries and ancient wisdom, it blossoms on the palate with a wavefront of crushed hibiscus petals and cassis soaked in old Calvados, black mulberries, absinthe and wild cherries with oriental spices and musk. No added SO2 nor fining or filtering.
