FOREIGN GRAPES
As the name recites, this crunchily explosive and effortlessly complex Sardinian natural red is Gianfranco’s beautifully successful experiment with a wine from grapes belonging to his neighbors, mostly elderly farmers. It’s a blend of Cannonau and Cagnulari from old vines on schist-limestone soils, treated naturally only with tiny amounts of sulphurs and herbal teas.It’s of course spontaneously fermented with no hint of fining, filtration or added SO2. It dances with exuberant and earthy notes of ripe mulberries, balsamic herbs and juniper berries.
