BOX E CROXIU 2016
Just like its creator Gianfranco this wine is as idiosyncratic as it is a pure work of art and refined intellect. The name in Sardinian literally means “the voice of the skins” and the wine is an assemblage of the “pressato”, meaning the first-pressed juice, of all of the 6-7 cuvees of 2016. The name is a bit of a play on words since “press” in many languages means both the wine press and the printing press, therefore Gianfranco imagines that the name could be that of “a newspaper that exposes the most immediate and raw news but also protects the contents”. This is a deeply carnal, chewable wine, with an untamable raw power and ponderous matter and tannic filigree, yet agile, fresh and balsamic. Spiced Morello cherries with cinnamon and cloves, dried figs grilled with thyme and cardamom.
