ROSSO DI MONTALCINO DOC ALBERELLO 2016
Fonterenza’s Rosso di Montalcino Alberello, which literally means “small tree”, is named after the head-trained vines that give it life. The grapes are a rare clone of Sangiovese, farmed organically and biodynamically, planted in 2005 in a cru surrounded by untouched wild woods. After wild fermentation, it rests 11 months in large oak and 12 more in steel before going into the bottle with no humiliating fining or filtration. A very fun wine that radiates also seriousness and complexity in the best way possible: vibrant cassis with chutney of blackberries and sweet turmeric, balsamic and ematic notes, rosemary and bramble.
