LUNA BLU 2011
Luna Blu, which means “blue moon” in Italian, is Caspri’s rather rare and truly astonishing orange wine, a gem that radiates rustic and assertive character, balanced with suave elegance. It’s a blend of Trebbiano, lending it bright acidity, depth and herbal tension, and Malvasia, with its floral and nuanced aromatics, which see wild fermentation and a prolonged skin contact of a month or more. It ages for at least 1 year in used barrels of different sizes before going into the bottle with no humiliations such as fining, filtration or added SO2. Juicily dynamic and unendingly complex: echoes of pear and marine breezes with ripe papaya, burnt sage and chestnut honey, saffron and baked quince.
