DARIO PRINCIC RIBOLLA GIALLA 2016
Ribolla can be said to be Friuli’s Collio’s most representative grape, whose most intimate soul can only be unlocked by masterful skin contact. This deeply passionate and elegant orange wine comes from 100% Ribolla Gialla from old vines near the village of Oslavia, treated only naturally. It is glorified by a maceration of about a month during wild fermentation in large wood, it then ages for 2 years in traditional wooden barrels. No fining or filtration and only a tiny pinch of added SO2. It’s a glorious and majestic wine, with astounding depth and structure yet wonderful drinkability: chargrilled apricots and jackfruit with thyme and maple leaves, honey-roasted cashews over Turkish spices, deep mineral overtones and echoes of idrocarburs.
