This heart-rendingly beauty of an orange wine from Anthony Tortul, as majestically concentrated and powerful as it is drinkable, is a blend of mostly Sauvignon Blanc, Mauzac Jaune and Chassan from old vines on limestone sands near Carcassonne in Languedoc Roussillon. All organically farmed, the grapes ferment naturally with 2 months of skin contact except for the Mauzac, which is direct-pressed. It sees an elevage of 2 years in untopped barrels, leading to light and complex oxidative notes. Of course no hint of fining, filtration or added SO2. Ripe jackfruit, spiced papaya, madras curry, lemongrass tea and baked nashi pear with cardamom and sweet chili sauce.
