BS BLANC DE SUMOLL 2017
Antonella Gerosa and Massimo Marchiori are Italian former architects who almost 20 years ago have decided to turn their life around and now give light to astounding natural wines in Catalunya’s Penedes region. BS stands for “Blanc de Sumoll” and it’s a white vinification, from old organically farmed wines, of the rare local variety Sumoll. After spontaneous fermentation and a brief skin contact it rests in steel for 8-12 months before being bottled with no fining, filtration or added SO2. With a shimmering copper color reminiscent of an orange wine (which is not) it bewitches us with intense notes of quince marmalade with smoked sage, dried bergamot and elderflower honey.
