Christian’s 100% Pinot Blanc from 40-45 years old organically farmed vines is truly a beast of rare poise, focus and elegance. Hailing from vines grown on soils of sand, gravel and schist, it benefits from the temperate influence of nearby lake Neusiedler, on Austria’s Eastern tip. The grapes are destemmed, foot-stomp and ferment wildly in large barrels, where the wine ages for 2 years with no racking before being bottled with no fining, filtration or added SO2. Luminously mineral, austere yet fruity and jovial: yellow plums with saffron, ancient resins and wild tarragon.
