CHRISTIAN TSCHIDA

Christian Tschida, one of the most iconic and loved Austrian natural vignerons, works an estate of rare beauty on the shores of Burgenland’s lake Neusiedler, on Austria’s Eastern tip. Made up of 11 hectares on soils mostly of sandy gravel, schist and limestone, the farm has been in the family since the 19th century. Strong of his father’s history, as he was one of the first pioneers of organic viticulture in Austria, Christian began making his own wines with a fully natural approach about 10 years ago. He believes that complexity and drinkability can and must coexist and releases his wines often only after many years in the barrel with a controlled interaction with oxygen.

These are wines of depth, complexity and finesse and since the 2015 vintage all without added SO2.
