Battista’s iconic “Orange” is a true splendid Demigod of a natural wine, transcending the orange wine genre and stepping into the realm of pure art. A glance at the shimmering amber in the chalice is enough to transport us on the terraced vineyards of Pantelleria, verdant with wild herbs, fig trees and overlooking the sea. This is 100% Zibibbo from 40-60 years old vines farmed biodynamically and fermented with its native yeasts in steel with 20-29 days of skin contact before seeing an elevage of 6-8 months in steel and traditional chestnut barrels. It’s bottled with no fining, filtration or added SO2. The characteristic floral impact of Zibibbo on the nose is here a cosmic Mandala of lightly grilled clementines, jasmine compote and spiced marzipan, while the palate is a fantastic beast of rare depth and sapidity, with lavender, bergamot and Yuzu curd with saffron honey.
