Estelle and Raphael Monnier from Ratapoil, which means amateur vigneron in French slang from Jura’s Arbois, began their natural wine journey as passionate wine lovers, drinkers and professionals and are now the proud parents of some of the most joyful, elegant and passionate wines in Jura. They work, according to the strictest natural principles, about 2 hectares near Arbois, which have been certified organic since the domain’s birth. The Monnier’s unflinching ethos and steadfast vision have led them to make wines that are born of healthy soil brimming with biodiversity and even healthier grapes. These are wines that seek to best express this terroir’s mineral soul through the ancient local varieties. All of their wines are fermented naturally with no fining or filtration and only rarely very minute amounts of SO2 are added.
