DOMAINE LES FAUVETTES

Alexandre Jouveaux, now a cult figure in both the natural wine and Bourgogne worlds, arrived in the village of Uchizy, North of Macon, in the late 1990’s as a teacher in the local oenology school. In 1999 he purchased a small plot and, also partially due to an allergy to sulfites, begun making wine in the most natural possible way. Now he works a few parcels of astoundingly old and sublime vines, the oldest of which was planted in 1910. These are wines of amazing and heart-wrenching sincerity and beauty, of which very few bottles are made, all very sought after. A few years ago his wife Maryse Chatelin, an oenologist also by training, planted Pinot Noir on rosy limestone soils and Domaine Les Fauvettes was born.
