ROCKAILLE BILLY 2017
Vincent from No Control describes his aim as that of making “pure, fresh, generous wines of high drinkability…”. This, and much more, we find in Rockaille Billy, a name that is a bit of a pun on the word “rochaille”, which means rock in the local Auvergne dialect. And big rocks are found in the terroir of this biodynamically farmed beautiful Gamay vineyard, deep in the woods. Fermentation is of the wild and spontaneous kind in fiberglass and in whole bunches. Ethereal yet carnal and crunchy, with otherworldly freshness and minerality: lightly spiced black currants, liquorice and baked black plums with peppermint and lime. Proudly no hint of fining, filtering, winemaking trickery or added SO2.
