Just as Bruce’s Lee’s fighting stance on the label, right before he prepares to strike with his feared “one inch punch”, this orange wine by natural wine maverick-genius Anthony Tortul is a supernova of out of this world aromas and flavours. It’s mostly Grenache Blanc and Marsanne with a touch of Muscat d’Alexandria from biodynamic grapes grown on clay-limestone soils in the Languedoc Roussillon. Fermentation is of course duly wild, with direct-pressing for Grenache, a few days’ skin contact for Marsanne and a whopping 70 days maceration for the Muscat. It kicks and roars with ripe peach with saffron honey tea, wild fennel, jasmine and maracuja with tangerine marzipan and allspice.
