CARLITO
Charles Dagand, as many a natural wine aficionado might know, was until recently part of the team of vignerons behind Jura legend l’Octavin, until he decided to carve his own path by creating his own domain Carlito. Charles works, according to a strict natural ethos and many biodynamic methods, with the traditional Jura local varieties such as Savagnin and Chardonnay for whites (though he definitely likes to mix them up using red grapes in whites and vice versa) and Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot Noir for reds. Many of the grapes, as used to be the custom almost everywhere in Europe traditionally, are co-planted in very old parcels, which produce richly concentrated and complex wines. These are natural wines of deep spiritual power, delicately ethereal as they are intimately carnal and passionate.
